STAR [Centre for Science, Technology, and Art Research] is the Plymouth based component of CAiiA-STAR. STAR was formed in 1997, building on the School of Computing's research achievements in the domain of interactive multimedia and the associated fields of Artificial Life, Robotics and Cognitive Science. Together CAiiA+STAR provide a powerful base for research in the new field of practice, theory and application which is emerging from the creative convergence of art, science, technology and consciousness research.
GM (Generative Music) has emerged out of the group's experiments with generative systems and more recently become concerned with issues around space and networks. GM has to date covered a wide spectrum of events and venues, from club nights (the Cavern Club Exeter) to set performances (the Cube Bristol).
