The
multi-user installation 'Bubbles' enables participants to interact
with the real-time simulation of floating bubbles. By entering the
light beam of the data projector, the participant throws a cast-shadow
onto the projection screen. The screen area is captured by a video
input system and each bubble is able to independently recognise both
the shadows' touch and its direction.
Defined as autonomous objects, the bubbles' behaviour and their response
to any user-interaction follows a set of simulated physical laws.
Both the overall state of the complex system and the shadows' interaction
with the bubbles create non-linear musical structures, that are generated
in real-time utilising a midi interface and midi synthesiser.

Artist:
Haruo Ishii
This work consists of
roughly 550 motors which make music by ringing bells while light-emitting
diodes (LED) flash on and off in the darkness. The bells and light-emanating
diodes are placed at varying heights and locations surrounding the
one experiencing them. The bells are made of copper and brass pipes,
making sounds and producing music from the striking of a wooden ball
driven by a computer-controlled motor. The lights flash on and off
by motor in synchronisation with the music.

Genitron
is an interactive installation employing spoken word, electronic tonalities
and abstract visuals. It is an exploration of the capabilities of the
DVD medium.
The installation consists of single screen video projection with a surround
sound composition. A simple push button array is the user's interface
with the Genitron environment. With this the user can navigate and combine
the various elements that comprise Genitron. They may do this in a semi-random
manner to compose their own experience.
