The Morphed Artist - Presentation >>

St. John Walker Director of The Finishing School, the National Film & Television School's Training Centre, talked about innovative & experimental CGI

"I was brought down to do a talk with a panel discussion but unfortunately the members couldn't make the panel so I did a sterling job of showing some digital visual effects work done by our students. So we kind of changed the script abit but I think I covered alot of the issues that would have been brought up had the panel been here. Both were team work projects motion graphics [See below] My area is digital composting which means layering of visual images to create effects" St. John Walker

"I saw the Ardman stuff the other day. Both talks very interesting. Michael Carter shad a lot of light on the whole animation industry, it was a little bit surprising, or perhaps worrying that he was saying the well know software like 3d Studio max is not very useful if you're going to the high end of the animation industry, that's why I asked a further question about that in the Morphed artist presentation. Michael was saying they like people with a good general knowledge of things like literature and sculpture and music and a lot of other stuff, you need to have some understanding of culture and movement. Sport, I thought that was fascinating that you need to know how people move and have to be prepared to observe people moving to be a good animator.
These two films today I thought they were very good. The first was perhaps a bit clichéd but you could see it was a bit of a parody, you could see there was a lot of money spent on that film" Brian - Lecturer Masters in Creative Technology at Leeds Met

"I preferred the second film, could be a music video type thing. I've not looked at after effects much but after that I might have a look now. I do some sound and programming" Adam - Student Leeds Met University
