LOVEBYTES DIGITAL MEDIA COMMISSIONS - INTRODUCTION

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION 21st SEPTEMBER 2001 TO BE PRESENTED AT LOVEBYTES FESTIVAL 14th - 17th MARCH 2002

Lovebytes is an arts organisation, commissioning agency and annual digital arts festival in Sheffield, UK, dedicated to supporting the development and production of new media artwork.

We are pleased to announce that we are now working with Yorkshire Media Production Agency as their New Media Department within their Studio of the North (SON). SON is an exciting project developed by YMPA and funded by the European Regional Development Fund, aimed at providing an unparalleled and fully integrated support structure of advice, development, investment, location support, facilities and resources, marketing and distribution for film and new media.

Alongside this, additional funding from Yorkshire Arts to commission a series of Audio Art works, has allowed Lovebytes to develop this comprehensive commissioning scheme across a range of new media areas. We are now inviting applications for projects to be commissioned in the autumn of 2001 for showcasing at Lovebytes Festival in 2002.

We want to support and promote emerging talent with fresh ideas. We are particularly interested in people who are experimenting with digital formats and alternative distribution channels and want to support the production and distribution of engaging, provocative new work.

OUTLINE OF COMMISSION FUNDS

Lovebytes have secured funding for commissioning a series of new media work in the following areas:

• Audio Art
• Experimental Digital Video and Interactive Animation
• Multimedia Installation
• Publication
• New Media Project Development.

There are also opportunities for projects which may cross or combine these areas.
