The Imaginary Internal Organs of a Cyborg takes the physical form of the cyborg as a vehicle for exploring philosophical spaces. This piece is a CD ROM development of "Heart of the Cyborg" recently developed by the artist for Cambridge Darkroom Gallery as a web site and reflects Jane Prophet's ongoing interest in dualism: the inside / outside, human / machine, male / female, real / artificial. This piece is not so much based around exclusive disjunction, but rather as couples with blurred boundaries. The Imaginary Internal Organs of a Cyborg is a transgression of these normative boundaries, in this case of the inside / outside and human / machine dualism. |
