Infatuation Buildings
(on Crooked Street in North Paradise)
In The Land Of The One
Ê
Never can another replace my Queen,
In my heart, an empty seam.
Could anything else hurt quite this much,
Or must I be condemned to such?
Love's labour has indeed been lost,
And in my land, cold lies the frost.
Ê
Nothing stirs within my halls,
Ice covers all, and snow it falls...
Creeping, frigid sheets of cold
On every homestead gain a hold.
Look to the sky, and watch with me,
A snow that falls eternally.
Ê
New sunlight must soon reappear,
It has to shine, to dry our tears.
Cold blows the wind through bough and beam
On this the start of winters dream.
Long will a shadow blight this land,
And yet, my sweet, alone I stand.
